Kids’ Trade In, Trade Up

Our goal is to help every child enjoy a safe and quality bicycle while still making it affordable for families as they grow. So, when you buy any new kids or youth bicycle (24" wheel or less) at Big Blue Bike Company, we will automatically enroll your child in our "Trade In, Trade Up" program.

Simple as that. And while the program might be brand new, we're also making it retroactive, with the same trade up value for eligible children's bicycles bought from us since 2023.

How it works: You bring the bicycle you originally purchased from Big Blue Bike Company in reasonable, rideable condition.

If it's only been one year you get 50% of the original purchase price toward a bigger bike.

Two years and we will give you 30% toward a bigger wheeled bike.

Three years and you get 20% toward the next size you need.

One bike per trade. If you have 2 or more kid's bikes to trade, you are welcome to apply each bike to a separate trade.

Which Bikes may I Trade Up To?

You may trade-up to any new larger size bicycle that is intended for use by a child/teenager. You may not trade for a same-sized or smaller bicycle.

What Happens to My Old Bike?

Your old bike will make another child happy. We will fix it up and sell it as a used bike.

How do I Receive Credit?

The bike must be in good working condition, or able to be made into such condition and be cosmetically appealing.

Good working condition is defined as:

A safe and functioning bicycle where all tires have no less than 50% of tread remaining, tubes hold air, no stripped nuts, bolts, or allen keys; brakes and pads stop bike adequately; drivetrain components (gears, chain, shifters, etc.) are in good condition, wheels and frame are intact, and all original accessories are present (i.e. baskets, training wheels, safety pads).

Cosmetically appealing is defined as:

Rust-free; not excessively scratched; paint is not excessively chipped. We do expect some minor scratches and marks.

You can still receive credit if the bike can be made safe and appealing. We will simply reduce the credit based on our costs to improve the bicycle. We expect the bike to be used, but not damaged.
